Atelier CMS

A website you build by talking to it. Built on Drupal, runs on your own machine, and keeps your content and your AI keys yours.

Atelier is an AI-native CMS. You create, find, update and publish content through an operator console: say what you want, and it builds real, editable pages. No admin forms, no jargon, no SaaS login.

It ships as a container you run yourself, with an atelier command-line tool to install, update, back up and restore it. It upgrades itself from any version to the latest, which turned out to be a product decision rather than an ops feature; the post on the upgrade path explains why. Atelier is made by AIncient Labs and licensed GPL-2.0-or-later.

The Upgrade Path Is a Product Decision

Atelier is built for people who have never heard of Drupal and will never open a terminal. That single fact turns 'it upgrades itself' into a veto over the dependency list — and a refactor where I had to say no to modules we wanted, delete code we were proud of, and start reading other people's roadmaps.

The Bet Ships: Atelier Is Live

A few weeks ago I wrote that I was betting a new product on an unfashionable foundation. It just launched. This is the short, happy note before the longer ones.
